Perfect Fit and Updated Look

You don't need to be a celebrity to look great. They also have secrets to help them to look gorgeous. They can't always try on a dress and have it fit perfectly.
Tailoring is the key.

Are you frustrated at the fact that when you go shopping, you can't find anything to fit you? Finding a great tailor is the key to a perfect fit.
Little changes can make a big impact and update a favourite garment

Smart tips to ensure a good fit and to achieve an elegant look

Jackets

  • To ensure that the jackets fit across the shoulders, allow the shoulder seam to be at least 2.5cm wider than the shoulder bone so that there is no pulling across the back - almost everything else can be altered easily so long as there are no major details on the jacket like zippers on the sleeves that need to be taken up
  • When buttoned, there should be allowance for a blouse, top or jumper without any pulling across the shoulder or hip or arm
  • If the jacket needs extra shaping to define the waistline, you can have it taken in through the back seam - a great way to revamp a jacket if you have lost some weight or updating the look of the jacket
  • This is an inexpensive way to achieve an elegant look

Pants

  • Buy pants to fit your hips. If they are loose at the waist, have them taken in at the back vertical seam - avoid side pockets for larger hips, it just means that your shoulders are smaller and you can wear fancier tops to draw attention away from your hips
  • Pants can always be taken up and the legs tapered slightly to create a bootleg if you are shorter in the leg. This is the most flattering style for all body shapes and elongates the leg.
  • Many places are able to take up jeans and keep the original hem. Do this whenever possible

Shirts

  • Have bust darts sewn in or darts through the back to give some shape
  • Where the sleeves look baggy making the arms look bulkier, have the sleeves taken in through the bottom and the armhole raised.

Skirts

  • Straight skirts can be taken in on the sides or back and should not curve under the bottom
  • Pleats should never pull open
  • There should be no crease or pull across the break of the leg
  • Skirts should not ride up when you sit
  • The waistband should be loose enough to allow for two fingers to be inserted
  • Panty lines should not show in skirts or pants

Essential Items for your Wardrobe

Body Enhancers are a great help no matter what size you are. They pull everything in and up!

a Convertible Nude Bra - they are great because they can criss-cross, be strapless or halter. If you hate strapless bras, a great option is the clear straps. Some convertible bras come with 2 strap options. If not, invest in some Hollywood Clear Bra Straps.

Adjust your bra straps ladies. Lift those boobs up. You will look younger and slimmer.

Declutter and Pamper Your Style

There's only one more week of winter!
With winter coming to an end, let's start detoxing our image.
Your image includes what you wear along with how you think and the daily disciplines that give you that polished and well taken care of look. Is your image telling others that you VALUE yourself and value them?

Drink plenty of water if you aren't already. If I am at home for the day, I make up a jug of filtered water and add a squeeze of lemon or lime. Watch your skin begin to glow.

  • Create a positive affirmation about yourself that you tell yourself every time you look in the mirror. Mirrors use to haunt me as they reminded me of what I created as the truth. What we tell ourselves, we would never say to a friend. Be kind to yourself and tell yourself how awesome you are. Try this for a month and walk into the new season with your mind decluttered. Email me for a free 1 hour session and learn how to live free from the things that sabotage your life and prevent you from walking in confidence. tina@tinachin.com
  • Smile - Make it a choice to smile at everyone you meet and watch your life change.
  • Treat yourself to a pedicure or do it yourself with a few drops of lemon essential oil for softness. Use a foot paddle to exfoliate any unsightly dead skin on your heels. Cracked heels are not a good look in sandles for the summer. You may not see them. Just think of those going up the escalator behind you!! Finish off with a lovely nail varnish in the tones of your colours. Dressing your toes is a must to flatter your summer sandles.
  • Try a hair restyle for spring
  • Shape those eyebrows. Open up your eye area by removing those extra unwanted hairs. Seek a professional to do this please.
  • If you are still using the black eyeliner and black mascara that you used since highschool, please update. Using a dark brown for most colourings can keep you looking youthful. If you are only lining the lower eyelid, make sure you are lining under your lashes and not inside as this opens up the eye. Consider lining the top as well. Body shape and bras - Are your boobs meeting your stomach for lunch?

Wow, there is so much to consider in choosing the correct bra for your body shape.

Did you know that the average life expectancy of a bra is 6 months?
Terese from Triumph recommends handwashing bras to avoid wires popping out of the bra, yes and even popping out of the lingerie bag and blowing up your washing machine motor!!
Do up the hooks on your bra before washing. They actually last longer if you wash between every wear.
I would never buy a pair of shoes without trying them on.
Why would anyone even consider buying a bra without trying it on?!!
Everyone needs to be correctly fitted by a Bra Stylist. Just because you were a 12B as a teenager, doesn't mean you will be the same size in your 40s. If your body size has changed, it is likely that your bra size has changed as well. Consider having one if you haven't in the last 2 years, you've just finished breast feeding, had surgery or your weight has changed.

Your initmate wear is crucial to the way your outer garments sit.
Whether you require a minimizer or a cleavage on demand, you will find some great styles for all ages and sizes.
Contact at http://www.tinachin.com/ if you have any challenges with finding the right bra for you to avoid your boobs meeting your stomach for lunch!!

Why not post a comment? I would love to hear about your worst nightmare or a fantastic experience you have had with bra fittings.

Networking - the 15 second introduction

I attended a network lunch with a group of dynamic business women yesterday.
Women are so enthusiastic when it comes to promoting their business.
The introductions can be so long winded that my hunger overtakes and I lose focus.

One helpful tip I learnt when it comes to introducing my business in 15 seconds is to state a pain or problem people might have, introduce who you are and give the benefit of your solution. It keeps it brief and people wanting to know more.
Now, rather than stating everything that I have to offer, I think about what's in it for the other person and I have much more success and interest.

Keeping it brief makes for a great first impression as well and respects other people's time.

Please share what you have found works well for you.

Style - is your hair ageing you?

What better place to spend a couple of hours than relaxing in your favourite hair salon on a cold and windy day?

There I was sipping Aveda tea while in my hair was in the capable hands of Creative Director Sankara at Luc Espace in Chatswood Chase undergoing a massive colour change.
I love change. For those of you who know me, I will always challenge you to go forward. Do something different and be in a different stage of growth in days, months and years from today.

Change for some is a scary ordeal, while others embrace it with excitement.
Is it time for you to embrace a change in hairstyle?
Why be predictable?
Life is too short to remain stagnant. Don't look back and wonder 'what if?', 'if only I...'

Going for a lighter shade in hair colour can take years off your face.
Hair that is too styled can make you look dated. Go for layers and a style that suits your lifestyle.
Keep your makeup current and updated. Heavy foundation, heavy eyeliner and heavy mascara can make you look older.

Post a comment and share about your worst hair nightmare or a fabulous recommendation you have.
